Welcome to DiveScores! By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

DiveScores is a platform for managing diving competitions, recording scores, and sharing results. Our service is designed for coaches, athletes, meet directors, parents, and fans of the sport of diving.

2. Eligibility and Account Registration

Age Requirements

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement. We rely on Google's age verification during the sign-in process.

Parental Consent

If you are between 13 and 18 years old, you should review these terms with a parent or guardian. By using DiveScores, minors confirm they have parental permission to participate.

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account used to access DiveScores. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account.

3. User Content and Conduct

Public Information

By participating in diving events on DiveScores, you acknowledge that certain information will be publicly visible, including:

• Your name and profile information
• Your diving scores and competition results
• Team affiliations and meet participation
• Performance statistics and rankings

Athletic performance data (scores, rankings, meet results) is inherently public information and cannot be made private. This is consistent with traditional sports scoring and record-keeping practices.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Post false, misleading, or inaccurate information
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Harass, bully, or threaten other users
• Use the platform for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Scrape or collect user data without permission

4. Live Streaming

DiveScores provides the ability for meets to be live streamed to YouTube and listed on the DiveScores account. By participating in a meet that is being live streamed:

• You consent to being recorded and broadcast
• The video may be publicly accessible on YouTube
• Recordings may remain available after the event concludes, subject to YouTube's policies

5. Payment Terms

DiveScores is currently free for all users. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future. If we do:

• We will provide advance notice of any fees
• Payments will be processed securely through Stripe
• High school teams will continue to have access to core features at no cost

6. Intellectual Property

Our Rights

DiveScores and all related trademarks, logos, and service marks are owned by DiveScores. You may not use our branding without written permission.

Your Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (profile information, photos, etc.). However, by submitting content, you grant DiveScores a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content as necessary to provide our services.

7. Account Deletion and Data Retention

You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion:

• Your personal data will be removed from our active systems immediately
• Data may persist in backups for up to 30 days before permanent deletion
• Historical meet results and scores may be retained as part of competition records, but will be anonymized or aggregated where possible
• We may retain certain data if required by law or to resolve disputes

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Service Provided “As Is”

DiveScores is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the reliability, accuracy, or availability of the service.

Scoring Accuracy

While we strive for accuracy in score calculations and meet management, we are not responsible for errors in data entry, scoring disputes, or discrepancies. Official meet results are determined by meet directors and officials, not by DiveScores.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DiveScores and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the service.

9. Third-Party Services

DiveScores integrates with third-party services including:

• Google Authentication: For secure sign-in
• Google Analytics: For understanding how our service is used
• YouTube: For live streaming competitions
• Stripe: For payment processing (when applicable)

These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.

10. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a notice on our platform or by email. Your continued use of DiveScores after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive behavior. You may terminate your account at any time by using the account deletion feature.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
